SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST! - A theory for Charles Darwin. A truism for the castaways of Survivor. But, then, biological evolutionism only goes so far. The rest is all heart and guts. Evidence: Kathy O'Brien, the Vermont contestant on Survivor: Marquesas and Survivor: All-Stars, who cast off inertia and embraced adventure. She lost the million but found out something worth much more: Surviving your own life can be the greatest challenge of all. In Vermont, she can help you find that dream home in the mountains or on the lake.
So, make the natural selection by choosing Kathy as your Realtor. Because there's a difference between simply surviving and thriving.
I have always had a passion for new experiences and challenges. Travel is always in my blood but new experience is the root of it. My experiences around the world as a contestant on CBS' Survivor were a continuation of my love for adventure. I was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and moved on to live in Boston, Charlotte, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and San Diego. I was educated at Cohasset High School in Massachusetts before attending four years at Rhode Island School of Design.
I have called Vermont home for the past 20 years, along with my son Patrick. I now work as a real estate agent with Lang Associates in South Burlington, Vermont.
My dedication to my clients and my work motivated me to obtain my CRS (Certified Residential Specialist), a designation only 3% of all REALTORS have received. I also have my GRI designation (Graduate Real Estate Institute) and my CBR (Certified Buyer Representative). I enjoy helping my clients find their special slice of Vermont. We work together as a team to find a good home and quality of life. Vermont is such a unique place to live that I take great pride in connecting my clients with their new life in this incredible state.
I am also a self-starter. For ten years I ran my own small businesses: a unique paper, gifts and art products store and an event-planning business. I also worked in newspaper advertising.
My love for the outdoors is evident in the hobbies I have chosen. I love to hike, ski, sail, road-bike and mountain bike. In 1998, I biked across the United States for the American Lung Association as a dedication to my father. I biked for 48 days from Seattle to Washington, D. C., and raised over four million dollars.
I competed and finished third place on CBS' Survivor: Marquesas in 2002. Two years later, I went back to compete again against former Survivor contestants in the Survivor: All Stars.
Since returning from Survivor, I began a foundation to help women gain self-confidence through outdoor adventure, challenges and risk taking called The Real Foundation.
The dedication and sheer determination that I have shown in each of my endeavors is the same dedication I will show you as your agent.
